Description

A fine side-by-side damascus barreled blackpowder shotgun made by J.Jamain in Liege. The stock is made of Junglans, a dark type of walnut combined with steel applications. The trigger guard, cocks, chamber exterior and lever are made of hand engraved steel with a magnificent tight pattern. The side by side barrel is forged in damascus steel, which is a slightly incorrect term and is often called ‘watered steel’. It consists of a steel core on which steel layers were twisted. Afterwards the barrels were etched with a fine brown finish.
The walnut stock bears a silver inlayed shield which was ment for the owners initials. In this case still blank.

Mechanism:
The shotgun has a pin-fire system which was commonly used in the mid and second half of the 19th century. It consists of two hammers with a half-cock and full cock mechanism which hammers down on the brass pin which was attached to the cartridge.
